How to Get Rid of Flabby Arms & Loose Arm Skin

How to Get Rid of Saggy, Flabby Arms & Loose Arm Skin

The first day of summer has finally arrived in the Detroit area! And as men and women pull out their bathing suits and tank tops for some summer fun, they can often be disheartened by the appearance of their flabby arms and saggy, hanging loose arm skin.

Unfortunately even rigorous exercise typically won’t tighten and tone the annoying skin that hangs down from the upper arm. But the good news is that Detroit area board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ali can permanently tone and tighten even the saggiest arms with routine and affordable arm lift surgery.

What Causes Flabby Arms & Loose Arm Skin?

Sometimes unkindly called “bat wings” or “bingo wings” loose skin on the arms can be the result of significant weight gain and/or loss, or simply caused by the aging process, gravity, or just a genetic predisposition to saggy arm skin.

In other words, if you have lost a lot of weight, or if you are over 50, or if your mom had loose arm skin, there’s a good chance you will end up with flabby arms.

Whatever the cause of loose arm skin, it simply can’t be remedied with exercise because it is the skin (and not the muscle) that is “loose”. While exercise can tighten muscles, it does not tone skin.

How to Get Rid of Flabby Arms & Loose Arm Skin

Fortunately, new technologies and advancements in surgical techniques have now made it faster, easier and safer to get rid of loose, flabby upper arm skin with routine arm lift surgery.

These new arm lift surgeries enable Detroit area board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ali to surgically get rid of flabby arms with better results, less discomfort and substantially less downtime.

In fact there has been an astounding 5000% increase in arm lift surgeries in the last twenty years, according to statistics released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Their 2018 report indicates that there were 338 arm lifts performed in the year 2000, more than 15, 000 performed in 2012, and 18,033 arm lift surgeries in the US in 2018!

How Arm Lift Surgery (Brachioplasty) Is Performed

Arm Lift Surgery (Brachioplasty) is a fairly “routine” and safe surgical intervention for individuals who have experienced significant weight loss, natural aging, or genetics that have left them with excess skin and a lack of arm contour.

The brachioplasty procedure typically begins with the patient under general anesthesia to ensure comfort throughout the surgery. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ali, will then make an incision on the inner aspect of the upper arm. The length and pattern of the incision will vary depending on the extent of skin laxity and the patient’s unique anatomy. Dr. Ali will skillfully remove the excess skin and fat, reshaping the underlying tissues to create a smoother, more toned appearance.

One of the key advantages of entrusting your arm lift surgery to a  skilled and certified board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Ali is the ability to achieve beautiful results with minimal scarring. Dr. Ali’s expertise allows for precise incision placement and closure techniques that promote faster healing and the most discreet scars possible. Following the procedure, patients typically experience a relatively fast recovery period, and any post-operative discomfort is managed with prescribed medications. As the treated area heals and swelling subsides, a sculpted, contoured arm is revealed that enhances one’s overall appearance, makes them look younger, and boosts confidence.

Arm Lifts Permanently Get Rid of Loose Arm Skin

One of the best things about an arm lift for loose or flabby arm skin is that the results are permanent, as long as the patient does not gain or lose a significant amount of weight after. Of course, the body will still undergo the normal aging process, but once the loose arm skin is removed, it’s gone for good.

And, for patients with excess upper arm fat, in addition to loose arm skin, arm lift surgery can also be combined with liposuction. Liposuction is also a permanent procedure that “sucks out” excess fat through a small tube – and once the fat cells are removed they will never return in that area!

Profound butt lift

Profound: the New Non-Surgical Butt Lift

Profound: The New Non-Surgical Butt Lift

Profound Radiofrequency Microneedling is a new, advanced procedure that is capable not only of tightening the patient’s skin, but can also dramatically increase volume, plumpness, and elasticity in the treatment area. For these reasons, when applied to the face, Profound Radiofrequency Microneedling is occasionally referred to as the non-surgical facelift. At AMAE Med Spa in Birmingham, MI, when used to tone and tighten the buttocks, the procedure is sometimes referred to as a “non-surgical butt lift”.

In this article, board certified Birmingham, MI plastic surgeon Dr. Ali discusses the many benefits of the Profound Butt Lift, providing prospective patients with everything they need to know about this remarkable new procedure.

How Profound Non-Surgical Butt Lift Works

The incredible, non-surgical results of the Profound Butt Lift are achieved through the use of cutting-edge radiofrequency technology. Using a specialized method of microneedling, the Profound delivers radiofrequency energy to the deepest dermal layers of the treatment area. The Profound Butt Lift is capable of directing radiofrequency energy directly to specifically targeted layers of skin, enabling Dr. LAi to firm, tighten, lift and contour the buttocks,

The clinical grade needles used to penetrate the skin of the treatment area are of an extremely fine width, which allow for the radiofrequency energy to reach deep within the dermis. This thermal energy triggers what is known as the “thermocollagenesis” effect, wherein the natural healing processes of the skin stimulate the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. As the skin cells are regenerated, patients experience tighter more youthful skin – and plumper more shapely and voluminous curves.

Profound Non-Surgical Butt Lift Results

Profound butt lift patients can typically expect to see visible results from their procedure as rapidly as four to six weeks after treatment. And over the course of the following three to six months, the dramatic, long-lasting results of the Profound butt lift only continue to improve.

At AMAE Plastic surgery & Med Spa, we take great pride in offering personalized care that meets the needs of everyone in the lively and diverse Birmingham, MI community. Unlike many older laser treatments, Profound Radiofrequency Microneedling treatments- including the Profound Butt Lift – can be safely performed on patients of any and all skin colors and tones.

Despite only taking about an hour or so to administer, the Profound butt lift provides an impressive roster of benefits. With minimal to no side effects, the Profound butt lift can:

  • Lift and tighten the skin on the buttocks
  • Eliminate loose, saggy skin
  • Add plumpness and volume
  • Reduce the appearance of cellulite
  • Improve appearance of stretch marks

Profound Non-Surgical Butt Lift Reduces Cellulite

In addition to toning, lifting and tightening the buttocks, Profound also reduces the appearance of cellulite.

The unsightly, rippled appearance of cellulite is known to develop on bodies of all shapes and sizes. In fact, the amount of fat a person has does not determine whether or a person will get cellulite at all. Instead, it is the result of the specific way one’s body holds certain fat deposits. Fortunately for anyone in Birmingham, MI with concerns about cellulite on their backside, the Profound butt lift can provide relief.

The dermis and the muscle are connected to one another via fibrous cords of tissue called septae. The septae forms a vertical pattern with small pockets of adipose (fat) tissue filling up the uneven sections between them. When the fat cells are pushed towards the surface of the skin, the dreaded lumpiness of cellulite becomes visible. But through the Profound butt lift, saying goodbye to cellulite is as simple as booking at appointment at our Birmingham, MI medical spa.

Profound Non-Surgical Butt Lift – Birmingham, MI

At AMAE Med Spa in Birmingham, MI, we offer Profound skin tightening treatment as a non-surgical way to achieve many of the same benefits of traditional butt lift surgery – without the pain, expense or downtime. At AMAE Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, board certified Troy, MI plastic surgeon Dr. Ali is proud to be one of the only aesthetic doctors in the greater Detroit area to offer the revolutionary Profound Non-Surgical Facelift Alternative.

Using radio-frequency energy, the Profound micro-needling treatment acts as an excellent non-surgical facelift alternative. Like a facelift, Profound is able to tighten and tone the skin -only without the expense or downtime of surgery. This non-surgical facelift alternative is capable of significantly reducing the effects of the aging process – yielding natural-looking results that are long lasting.

In this article, we will discuss the many benefits of choosing the Profound non-surgical facelift alternative – for those who aren’t ready or are unwilling to undergo facelift surgery.

How Profound Non-Surgical Facelift Alternative Works

This non-surgical facelift alternative is performed by using tiny needles to penetrate the skin of the treatment area at a precise depth. A burst of radiofrequency heat energy will then be released into the skin, stimulating the body’s natural healing processes. This stimulates the production of elastin, collagen, and hyaluronic acid -the three elements required for tight, youthful skin.

While patients at our Troy, MI medical spa consistently express their satisfaction with the procedure, the Profound Non-Surgical Facelift Alternative has been clinically proven to result in younger, healthier looking skin. And as if that wasn’t impressive enough, the study went on to report that the Profound Non-Surgical Facelift alternative demonstrated the ability to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines with a response rate of an absolutely unheard of 100%!

Profound – the Best Non-Surgical Facelift Alternative

When compared to traditional facelift surgery, the Profound non-surgical facelift alternative has been proven to result in improvement to skin laxity by an impressive 37% of facelift. This means that anyone in the Troy, MI area who desires significant skin tightening now has an impressive, not-surgical facelift alternative.

While a traditional facelift is performed by incising and pulling back the patient’s skin, the Profound non-surgical facelift alternative works hand-in-hand with the body’s natural ability to heal. By stimulating the production of hyaluronic acid, elastin, and collagen, Profound is able to lift and tighten the skin without subjecting patients to lengthy downtime.

Truly the first treatment of its kind, Profound is unequivocally the best non-surgical facelift alternative available to men and women in the Troy, MI area. No other procedure on the market is capable of replicating the effects of facelift surgery, without using fillers or dangerous toxins.

What to Expect Before and After a Nose Job

What to Expect Before and After a Nose Job

Top Macomb County board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ali has helped hundreds of men and women get the nose they have always dreamed of with nose job surgery. In this article he explains what to expect before and after getting a nose job.

The Consultation Prior to Scheduling Your Nose Job

The first step in the rhinoplasty process for prospective patients begins in the office of an experienced and qualified plastic surgeon for a thorough consultation. Dr. Ali is a board certified plastic surgeon in Macomb County, a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, with extensive experience performing cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries, including hundreds of nose jobs.

At your initial consultation, photographs will be taken, and you will have a chance to discuss any concerns you have and exactly what issues you would like the surgery to address. Dr. Ali will also examine your nasal structure for breathing issues. You may be shown a variety of before and after photos for noses that are similar in size and shape to yours, to give you a realistic idea of what is possible.

Preparing Before your Nose Job

Once you have decided and a surgical date is set, it’s time to begin preparations. Like any surgical procedure, preparation is vital to ensure a smooth surgery and recovery. Generally, you will be advised to avoid caffeine, alcohol, certain medications and smoking for up to one month prior to surgery. You may also be given prescriptions for medications that will help decrease post-operative bruising and pain. Because aspirin and ibuprofen can increase bleeding, you should avoid taking any product containing these products for at least two weeks prior to, and two weeks following your surgery.

Arranging for Help Following your Nose Job

Rhinoplasty is usually performed on an outpatient basis, which means you will go home after a short stay in recovery. You will need to have someone available who can drive you home after your surgery, and it is a good idea for you to arrange for someone to stay with you at least for the first night. Many patients experience minor, short term memory lapses, slowed reaction time and impaired judgment for the first day after the surgery. That’s why it’s helpful to have someone assist you with personal care tasks for the first day or so, until you begin to get back to normal.

Recovery & Downtime After Your Nose Job

After the surgery, you will need to rest in bed with your head elevated higher than your chest, to help reduce bleeding and swelling. You may notice that your nose feels congested because of the swelling, and the splints that you received during surgery may be uncomfortable. It is common to have some slight bleeding and drainage for a few days after the surgery or after removing the dressing.

You should plan on taking at least a week off of work, and depending on the extent of the surgery, possibly even more. You will be sent home with a splint that will be removed after around five to six days, and at that point, you will likely feel comfortable going out in public. During that first week, you will feel progressively better, and usually after the first week, people usually feel pretty much like themselves again. Your actual recovery will depend largely on the type of surgery you have.

Side Effects of a Nose Job

Temporary black-and-blue discoloration of your eyelids may or may not occur for the first week or two following nasal surgery. Everyone bruises and heals differently – and some no jobs are more extensive than others – so individual bruising (if any) varies from patient to patient. After the first few days, any bruising can generally be covered successfully with concealer if desired.

Some swelling will also likely occur. Many patients find that limiting dietary sodium will help the swelling to resolve more quickly. Although there will likely be at least some amount of swelling and bruising after the surgery, pain following rhinoplasty varies from patient to patient. Many patents find that any discomfort can be managed very well with over-the-counter-medications – however Dr. Ali will prescribe stronger medications if necessary to make your recovery as pain-free as possible.

You will be given thorough post-operative instructions. Following these carefully will ensure that your recovery period progresses as quickly and comfortably as possible.

Continued Recovery Following your Nose Job

Though the visible effects of surgery disappear fairly quickly, healing on the inside takes quite a while longer. As a matter of fact, depending on the type and extent of rhinoplasty surgery you have, internal healing can continue for a year or eve longer. This is because the skin has to shrink to fit the new framework. It can take up to a year for the inside of the bridge to heal, and even longer for the tip.

You may be told to avoid strenuous activities for a period of time after surgery. Dr. Ali will tell you when it’s safe to resume activities such as swimming, aerobics or jogging. Take this time to explore another form of exercise that is less strenuous, such as yoga or Pilates, or simply taking walks.

Top Nose Job Surgery – Macomb County

Even small changes to your nose can make a large difference in how your nose looks, how it works, and how you feel about your overall appearance. Dr. Ali is committed to working closely with you from start to finish to get the results that you will be 100% satisfied with.

When planning your nose job, Dr. Ali can evaluate your other facial features and tell you how any changes to your nose could enhance or affect your overall appearance. He will then work with you to customize a surgical plan that will best meet your appearance goals.

What You Need to Know About Nose Job Surgery

What You Need to Know About Nose Job Surgery

A nose job – medically called rhinoplasty – is a common and safe surgery performed by a board certified plastic surgeon to alter the size or shape of the nose, or to improve its function.

Board certified Macomb County plastic surgeon Dr. Ali has performed rhinoplasty on hundreds of women and men with outstanding results. In this article Dr. Ali explains rhinoplasty surgery from start to finish – and breaks down everything you’ve ever wanted to know about a nose job.

What is a Nose Job?

If you are thinking about a permanent way to transform the shape, size, or appearance of your nose, you have plenty of company. In fact, according to a 2017 report issued by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, rhinoplasty is the third most popular cosmetic surgery, with over 200,000 recipients. Nose jobs can be for medical reasons, such as to correct breathing problems related to the nose or to correct disfigurement that results from birth defects or birth trauma. Or, nose jobs can be performed purely for cosmetic reasons.

Who Might Benefit from a Nose Job?

There are several conditions that might prompt someone to consider a nose job, such as:

  • The presence of a dorsal hump: A bump at the bridge of the nose
  • The width of the nose: A nose that is either too wide or too narrow
  • Asymmetry: A nose that is twisted or deviated
  • Prominent nasal tip: A nasal tip that is not in proportion to the rest of the face, that may be rounded or bulbous in appearance.
  • “Drooping” nasal tip: The end of the nose dips so that the angle between the upper lip and the end of the nose is less than 90 degrees
  • Post-traumatic deformities: The shape of the nose was altered after injury, such as a broken nose
  • Nasal airway issues: Internal valve collapse or deviated septum

The ideal rhinoplasty patient will be someone who has generally stopped growing (usually 15 years of age or older), who is emotionally mature enough to understand the implications, risks and purpose of the surgery, and who has realistic expectations of what rhinoplasty can (and can’t) do. You should be in good general health, and ideally, a nonsmoker (or willing and able to give up smoking for a period of time prior to and after the surgery).

Is a Nose Job Right for Me?

Rhinoplasty is major surgery. With any major surgery, there are risks that need to be balanced out against the benefits. Your initial consultation with Dr. Ali will include a discussion of your general health history, exactly what methods he recommends for your surgery, the potential risks associated with nose jobs and surgery in general, and what you can expect in terms of results. He will also let you know what the recovery time will likely be, and the overall costs involved.

The time spent in the initial consultation is extremely valuable to Dr. Ali in terms of getting to know you, your health history, and your goals. It is equally important to you, so that you can fully understand the process, risks, advantages and limitations of a nose job.

Will Insurance Cover My Nose Job?

Insurance may or may not cover your nose job. surgery. Some nose jobs will be covered, or partially covered, by insurance. Some will not. Generally, if you are getting a nose job simply for cosmetic reasons, insurance will decline coverage. It is a good idea to contact your insurance carrier well in advance of the surgery so you know what is covered and what you will need to pay for out of pocket.

Top Nose Job Surgery – Oakland & Macomb County

Of course, there is no such thing as the perfect nose. Every person’s nose is unique to their genetics and their ethnicity. The ideal nose for you will be vastly different than someone else’s – and should fit your face and be in proportion to your other features. When planning your nose job, Dr. Ali can evaluate your other facial features and tell you how any changes to your nose could enhance or affect your overall appearance. He will then work with you to customize a surgical plan that will best meet your appearance goals.
