LASER SCAR REDUCTION
AMAE Plastic Surgery in Birmingham, MI has recently added state-of-the-art Candela CO2RE fractional laser for scar reduction and skin resurfacing. This innovative laser procedure dramatically reduces acne scars, “pock marks”, surgical scars, and scars from accidents, injury or burns. The CO2RE laser removes the top layer of skin (epidermis) to reveal fresh, smooth skin beneath. Additionally, the fractional laser’s wavelengths penetrate deep into the dermis (lower layers of skin) to activate cellular renewal for repair and healing of scar tissue.
In addition to effectively reducing almost any type of scars anywhere on the face or body, the CO2RE fractional laser can also be used to reduce lines and wrinkles, age spots, sun spots and other unwanted pigmentation.
CO2RE laser scar removal is a fast, safe, and effective way to smooth and resurface your skin, with only minimal downtime. For most men or women, only a single laser scar reduction treatment is needed for dramatically visible results! However, some thick, deep or darker scars, may neccesitate a second procedure.
If you would like to get rid of unsightly and embarrassing scars – and restore even skin tone and smoothness to your skin – schedule a CO2RE laser scar reduction consultation today.

How Laser Scar Reduction Works
CO2RE laser skin resurfacin utilizes both ablative and fractional laser technology to treat raised hypertrophic and keloid scars, as well as depressed or “pitted” scarring, such as acne scars and chicken pox scars.
The ablative laser takes off the damaged top skin layer (epidermis), while the fractional laser emits a grid of energy columns that penetrate the deep underlying layers of the dermis. As the laser pokes microscopic channels into the skin, it activates the body’s natural healing processes. This renews the skin’s production of collagen and elastin protein fibers – which heal and repair the skin.
The collagen “fills in” depressed acne scars or “pock mark” for smoother, more even skin. It can also flatten raised keloid and hypertrophic scars. And, as the laser frequencies specifically target the pigment or hemoglobin in the scars, discoloration (pink, red, purple, brown) is detroyed – making skin more uniform in tone so scars are less prominent.
Dr. Ali will apply a local anesthetic before CO2RE laser scar reduction, to ensure a comfortable procedure. The amazing results from CO2RE laser scar reduction will be immediately visible, and scars will continue to improve for several months, as the body continues to naturally repair the skin.
