Bloomfield Hills, MI – Thinking about liposuction, but you want to learn more about it first? You’ve come to the right place.
Here are the answers to your most important liposuction questions from one of Michigan’s top plastic surgeons, Dr. M. Azhar Ali.
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction, one of the most common plastic surgery procedures, improves the contours of your body by removing excess fat deposits that exist between your skin and the muscle underneath. Oftentimes this is fat that has become resistant to diet and exercise.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
In most cases, patients opt to have liposuction on their abdomen, hips, thighs (anterior, outer and inner), breasts, buttocks, arms, knees, and neck.
Is Liposuction Only for Women?
Certainly not. Men make up about 15-25% of all liposuction patients. When men opt to have the procedure, they usually target their abdomens, love handles (flanks), and breasts, but the chin and neck are also sometimes included.
How Many Office Visits Are Required?
If you are having a single area worked on, such as your arms, your plastic surgeon will attempt to complete the procedure in a single session.
However, your plastic surgeon will sometimes recommend that you come back for additional liposuction sections, particularly if you are having more than one area worked on at the same time. Your plastic surgeon will determine if more sessions are necessary by calculating your height and weight and by gauging your overall health.
What is the Recovery Like?
Immediately following surgery, your plastic surgeon will probably require you to wear an elastic compression garment. Think of it as a type of specially made girdle. You will wear this elastic piece to reduce any bleeding that may occur immediately following surgery, as well as to reduce any swelling.
If local anesthesia was used, you will be able to leave the facility about 30 minutes following the procedure. If your plastic surgeon used general anesthesia or IV sedation, you may need an hour or more to fully recover before you are discharged. You should be able to return to work within a couple days’ time.
Are the Results Permanent?
Any fat cells that your plastic surgeon removes during surgery will not grow back. That means that you will have a new body shape after you recover from the procedure.
There will still be fat cells present, and these may be susceptible to weight gain. Your plastic surgeon can provide you with tips to help you manage your weight, which can extend your positive results.
If you happen to gain weight following liposuction surgery, you will appear to be a larger version of your new body shape.
Will I Be Left with Loose Skin?
If your skin has good elasticity, you should be left with smooth and naturally looking skin following liposuction.
If you have excess skin following the procedure, you may want to opt for a tummy tuck instead of liposuction. Your plastic surgeon will determine which procedure you are a good candidate for following your initial consultation.
Are There Any Risks?
Liposuction is a very safe procedure. However, as with any surgical procedure, infection, bleeding, and nerve injury can occur.
The only time liposuction may be risky if is you attempt to do too much liposuction in a single day. Or if you do not follow your plastic surgeon’s advice following surgery.
Listen to your plastic surgeon’s suggestions, in other words, and your procedure will have favorable results like they do for the majority of patients who opt for this procedure worldwide.
How Much Does Liposuction Cost?
The fees you are required to pay may vary depending on how many areas you wish to treat. Treating one area, such as your abdomen, is less expensive than treating your abdomen, arms, and thighs.
If you have more questions about liposuction or you wish to get an accurate fee quote, contact Bloomfield Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Ali today for a consultation.

Looking Younger With a Facelift vs. Liquid Facelift, What’s the Difference?
/0 Comments/in Face Lift, Facial Filler /by adminBloomfield Hills, MI – When the goal is to look years younger, a facelift is the way to go. What facelift, then, should one choose?
It’s not common knowledge that there are two types of facelifts. There’s the traditional facelift, and then there’s the less known liquid facelift. What’s the difference?
Top Michigan plastic surgeon Dr. M. Azhar Ali explains the advantages and disadvantages of these two image-enhancing treatments.
Liquid Facelift
The liquid facelift isn’t much of a lift at all. It’s a cosmetic surgical procedure that involves the use of transdermal fillers.
Dr. Ali performs liquid facelifts in his Bloomfield Hills, Detroit office, and says that many patients remain unaware that liquid facelifts, while they are able to turn back time on the face, aren’t permanent.
Liquid facelifts make use of injectable fillers that are comprised of biocompatible materials. The fillers provide volume to areas of the face that have become sunken and misshapen due to age. The fillers smooth wrinkles and create a more youthful appearance.
According to Dr. Ali, the dermal fillers will eventually become absorbed by the body, prompting the patient to undergo a follow-up procedure to lengthen the effects.
Dr. Ali points to a myriad of benefits to liquid facelifts, however. In addition to giving the patient a more youthful appearance, there is little to no discomfort and almost no downtime.
The cost of a liquid facelift is also very affordable. Though the cost of the procedure is one area Dr. Ali hopes that patients will analyze carefully before making a decision to undergo this life-enhancing procedure.
“Any doctor can take a weekend course and call themselves a cosmetic surgeon,” says Dr. Ali. The Hour-Detroit magazine’s top doc 2016 award winner says that many patients may turn to subpar cosmetic surgeons in an effort to save money, but patient beware.
Dr. Ali says that only a plastic surgeon who has undergone years of intensive study after medical school can perform liquid facelifts, in addition to traditional facelifts, with the care and precision patients expect.
Dr. Ali says that cost should never be a factor when it comes to one’s appearance. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. Dr. Ali advises patients to research the procedure and doctor heavily before signing up for liquid facelifts or any other cosmetic procedure.
Traditional Facelift
The traditional facelift is a surgical treatment that involves the drawing back and tightening of the face. This also smooths out wrinkles and can do away with sagging cheeks (jowls). Unlike liquid facelifts, however, the effects are permanent and more natural-looking when done well.
Dr. Ali has performed dozens of facelifts in his years at Amae Plastic Surgery Center and says that while the cost may be higher, and there may be some downtime following the procedure, patients are typically happier with the long-lasting effects of a facelift when compared to the temporary effects of a liquid facelift.
Both the liquid facelift and facelift can erase the years and give an ample boost to your self-esteem. Dr. Ali says that if budget is a concern, a liquid facelift is a perfectly viable alternative to the traditional facelift. However, only the facelift can provide the longevity and youthfulness that is sought out by most plastic surgery patients.

Mommy Makeover Plastic Surgery Procedures Giving Women a New Lease on Life
/0 Comments/in Mommy Makeover /by adminBloomfield Hills, MI – When pregnancy and age have ravaged a woman’s body, she has two choices: She can lament the fact that her pre-baby figure is long gone every time she looks in the mirror, or she can opt for a Mommy Makeover procedure from a skilled and experienced plastic surgeon.
A Mommy Makeover is actually a combination of surgical procedures that address the woman’s breasts, midsection and other problem areas. Also referred to as postpartum body contouring, a Mommy Makeover combines the tummy tuck, breast lift, and other procedures to enhance a woman’s appearance.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 62% of mothers seek out plastic surgery at some point following childbirth in order to regain her pre-baby figure. This figure shows that women today are more concerned with looking good than ever before.
Top Michigan plastic surgeon Dr. M. Azhar Ali regularly performs Mommy Makeover treatments at Amae Plastic Surgery Center in Bloomfield Hills, Detroit, Michigan, also serving Clarkston, Richmond Hills and Rochester Hills.
The Hour-Detroit top doc 2016 award winner said, “Childbirth can wreak havoc on a woman’s body. To make matters worse, many times her metabolism will slow to a crawl, making diet and exercise almost useless in the fight against weight gain.”
Dr. Ali offers women a chance to regain their pre-pregnancy bodies with a bundle of procedures at a discount known as the Mommy Makeover.
Dr. Ali stresses that while the term “Mommy Makeover” may be a fairly recent phenomenon, the procedures involved have a long history and a successful track record.
A typical makeover might involve a tummy tuck and a breast procedure, such as a breast augmentation or enlargement, lift, or reduction. The treatment may also include liposuction of the legs, arms and midsection.
How does a woman know if she is a good candidate for surgery?
If pregnancy has negatively affected the size and/or shape of a woman’s breasts, if she dislikes the appearance of her sagging tummy or stretch marks, and if she has pockets of fat on her waist, arms, thighs or abdomen, she may be an excellent candidate for a Mommy Makeover procedure.
Women who have undergone Mommy Makeover procedures enjoy a more youthful bust and flatter tummy, not to mention clothes (and swimsuits) tend to fit better. Most importantly, the procedure can give the woman a significant boost in self-esteem, not to mention add to her quality of life.
All Mommy Makeover procedures begin with an initial consultation. During this hour-long meeting, Dr. Ali will ensure that the patient is of sound mind and judgement, and is realistic about all expectations.
“A Mommy Makeover can help a woman feel good about her body again,” Dr. Ali said. “The best part is that all of the procedures can be performed at the same time, saving mothers time and money while improving every area of her life.”
To learn more about the Mommy Makeover procedure or to schedule a consultation with esteemed Michigan plastic surgeon Dr. Ali, contact Amae Plastic Surgery Center today.

Michigan Plastic Surgeon Dr. Ali Explains the Four “Lift” Surgeries to Reverse Gravity and Age
/0 Comments/in Arm Lift, Brazilian butt lift, Breast Lift /by adminDetroit, MI – It would be nice if we could retain our youthful bodies well into middle age and beyond. Unfortunately, gravity and age won’t allow that to happen. As we get older, our bodies begin to sag, and wrinkles form that cause us to look much older than we actually feel.
Fortunately, plastic surgery can help patients retain their lost figures. In particular, patients are turning to four “lift” procedures that can help patients gain a more aesthetic contour when it comes to their figures.
Top Michigan plastic surgeon Dr. M. Azhar Ali performs all four plastic surgery procedures at Amae Plastic Surgery Center in Bloomfield Hills.
The Hour-Detroit 2016 top doc winner said, “Many patients come to me when they don’t like the sagging of their arms, breasts, thighs or backside. My job is to make them love their bodies once more.”
Here are the procedures Dr. Ali offers to patients who wish to look as young as they feel.
Breast Lift
Gravity, age, childbirth, and weight loss can all contribute to breasts that no longer have that youthful perk to them. And when breasts sag, women are more likely to cover them up rather than show them off. Her self-esteem suffers, and she begins to hate the way she looks in the mirror.
A breast lift procedure can make breasts perkier by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple higher on the breast. In some cases, if the breasts lack volume, breast implants will be used to give the breasts more fullness. This makes the woman look better in clothes and can bring a significant boost to the way she feels about herself.
Arm Lift
When arm tissue begins to relax and sag, a condition begins to form known as “bingo wings.” Not only is this problem unsightly, but it can really compromise a person’s personal hygiene. To help with sagging arms, an arm lift can bring much-needed relief. However, it should be noted that the scar from this procedure often extends the length of the upper arm.
The arm lift procedure can reduce the circumference of your upper arm while improving definition. The level of surgical correction required will depend on how much skin needs to be removed, as well as the patient’s skin quality.
After the procedure, the patient will have firmer, more attractive arms. Some patients even report wearing sleeveless clothes once more after a long time of covering up.
Brazilian Butt Lift
This popular plastic surgery procedure originated in South America but is performed right here at the Amae Plastic Surgery Center. Dr. Ali will first perform a liposuction procedure to extract fat from another area of the patient’s body, such as the thighs or midsection. Dr. Ali will then use that fat to shape and contour the patient’s buttocks. The Brazilian butt lift offers long-lasting results that will make the buttocks look attractive in any dress or pair of jeans.
Thigh Lift
For patients who wish they had smaller and firmer thighs, a thigh lift can deliver the look they expect. Dr. Ali will remove excess skin and fat, which will provide the patient with a smoother and more proportioned look. While fat is removed, patients are warned not to rely on a thigh lift as a weight loss technique. Instead, the patient should attempt to lose weight first, and use a thigh lift to complete the new body transformation.
With these four “lift” procedures, Dr. Ali can help patients feel better about themselves, giving them a new lease on life.
Do you want to learn more about what these “lift” procedures can do for you? Contact Dr. Ali at Amae Plastic Surgery Center to schedule a consultation.

You Don’t Have to Go to Brazil for a Brazilian Butt Lift
/0 Comments/in Breast Lift /by adminBloomfield Hills, MI – When you don’t like the way your backside looks in dresses and jeans, there’s a plastic surgery procedure you might want to know about called the Brazilian butt lift.
Believe it or not, this procedure doesn’t involve a trip to South America, nor does it require you learning Portuguese. The popular derriere treatment is available right here in the US by top Michigan plastic surgeon Dr. M. Azhar Ali.
Dr. Ali offers the Brazilian butt lift at Amae Plastic Surgery Center in Bloomfield Hills, Detroit, Michigan (also serving the areas of Troy, Farmington Hills, and Clarkston) and according to him, there has been a serious upsurge in requests for the procedure in recent years.
What is the Brazilian Butt Lift?
The Brazilian butt lift originated in South America and involves a gluteal augmentation that provides the buttocks with more fullness and roundness. Using a combination of liposuction and fat grafting, Dr. Ali can give you the bottom you’ve always dreamed of.
You should ask for a Brazilian butt lift if you suffer from buttocks that are flat, asymmetrical, small, uneven or disproportionate.
How Does the Procedure Work?
Dr. Ali will begin the procedure by harvesting fat from other areas of your body, such as your abdomen and thighs, and will use that fat to sculpt, fill and lift your backside region. Since the procedure makes use of liposuction to harvest your own fat, you know you won’t suffer any adverse reactions and the effects are long-lasting.
What’s more, Dr. Ali’s precision and skill allow for minuscule scars that are hardly noticeable, and the results look like they came straight from nature.
Follow-Up Care
You will be given a compression garment to wear for a couple of weeks following the procedure to ensure your buttocks retain the desired shape while healing. You may notice some bruising and swelling around the surgical area, and you should refrain from putting pressure on the area to allow the fat to integrate with your existing tissue. Dr. Ali will give you explicit instructions for at-home care to enhance comfort and expedite the healing process.
When your backside is healed, you’ll be able to wear dresses and jeans with complete confidence. Your buttocks will also appear more youthful, perky, and sensual, all thanks to the Brazilian butt lift by esteemed plastic surgeon Dr. Ali.
Schedule a consultation with Dr. Ali today at Amae Plastic Surgery Center to see what the Brazilian butt lift can do for you.

How Photofacial Treatments Give You the Radiant Complexion You’ve Always Wanted
/0 Comments/in Cosmetic Surgery, Skin Care /by adminBloomfield Hills, MI – If you are unhappy with your skin’s complexion or you have a skin ailment that has been bothering you for some time, there is a revolutionary new cosmetic surgery treatment you’ll certainly want to know about.
The treatment that can give you more youthful, radiant, and blemish-free skin is known as the “Photofacial,” also referred to photorejuvenation, and uses the power of mere light to help you look your very best.
Here is all you need to know about photofacial treatments so you can start planning the procedure that can give you the smooth, even-textured you’ve always wanted.
What Does Photofacial Treatment Consist Of?
When you go to the office of top Detroit plastic surgeon Dr. M. Azhar Ali for a photofacial treatment, you can expect to experience Selective Waveband Technology (SWT) first-hand.
Dr. Ali uses a device called the Frax 1550 Nordlys Hybrid System to administer SWT, which consists of highly-filtered light pulses that break up the upper skin layer and invigorate the skin underneath, bringing your natural radiance to the surface.
The Frax 1550 is technology handcrafted in Denmark and sports 15 FDA-approved treatments.
What is Photofacial Treatment Used For?
You would schedule an appointment with Dr. Ali if you wanted to get rid of damaged or wrinkled skin, or skin that’s marred by stretch marks, scars, acne, or age spots.
You would also come to Dr. Ali for a photofacial treatment if you notice uneven pigmentation, redness, and other skin problems you’ve tried to address yourself to no avail. The treatment can also be used for hand rejuvenation.
How Does a Photofacial Work?
Dr. Ali will ensure you are comfortable; then he will use an apparatus that emits a pulsing light over the affected area. The treatment time varies, but should only last around 15-30 minutes on average.
Is There Any Discomfort or Downtime?
Dr. Ali is one of the first plastic surgeons to offer the Nordlys Hybrid System. He chose the system because it is non-invasive, safe, and virtually painless. There is also minimal downtime.
Do the Treatments Work Right Away?
While every cosmetic surgery case is different, you should see an improvement in your skin color and tone following the very first treatment. If you have a severe case of sun damage or other skin problem, you may require additional treatments to achieve the desired results.
You may also require additional treatments if you tend to be of the fairer skinned variety, as Dr. Ali will be forced to lower the settings on the Frax 1550 to keep from burning your skin.
On average, patients visit Dr. Ali for 3-4 sessions of photofacial treatments before noticing maximum results.
Are the Results Permanent?
The results of a photofacial treatment can be extremely long lasting if you protect your skin from the sun and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen while out and about during the day.
If you don’t care for your skin as Dr. Ali recommends, you may have to return for re-treatment in the near future.
What Results Can Be Expected?
SWT technology uses longer wavelengths of light than the sunlight that reach deep into your skin to stimulate new collagen production. This gives your skin a more youthful and radiant glow.
You will also see an improvement in the texture of your skin. It will be smoother and softer to the touch, allowing you to not only look your best but feel that way too.
How Much is a Photofacial?
While your cost may vary depending on the areas that need to be treated and how many treatments you opt to receive, the average price for a photofacial treatment is around $450.
Do you still have questions about photofacial treatments (photorejuvenation) and how they can give you glowing and more youthful skin? Contact Dr. Ali at Amae Plastic Surgery Center in Bloomfield Hills, Detroit, Michigan to schedule a consultation.

Michigan Plastic Surgeon Dr. M. Azhar Ali Wants to Help You Avoid Bad Plastic Surgery
/0 Comments/in Detroit Plastic Surgeon, Oakland County Plastic Surgeon /by adminBloomfield Hills, MI – As we witness the dawning of 2017, many men and women are looking to turn back the clock with one or more cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures.
Patients have many choices these days when it comes to looking younger. Procedures like the tummy tuck, eyelid surgery, and mommy makeovers have grown in popularity in recent years, and the trend only seems to be increasing.
As more people opt for cosmetic and plastic surgery, competition has become fierce. That is when it becomes a buyer beware market. According to top Michigan plastic surgeon Dr. M. Azhar Ali, many patients try to save money by going to a professional who charges less, and that’s when dangers abound.
“Cosmetic and plastic surgery treatments are not something you want to base on price,” Dr. Ali says. “A doctor may fall within your budget, but do you really want to trust your face and/or body to a professional who charges rock bottom pricing?”
Dr. Ali notes that some doctors will drop fees for services they don’t specialize in, and that’s when patients can really get into trouble.
Scarring, disfigurement, and even death can result when doctors perform treatments they are not qualified to offer.
Instead, Dr. Ali says that you should base your decision of plastic surgeon on the level of training and experience, as well as the doctor’s reputation.
Dr. Ali, for example, enjoys a 99% patient approval rating at Amae Plastic Surgery Center in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, also serving Rochester Hills and Clarkston. He hopes that anyone considering cosmetic surgery or plastic surgery will take the time to conduct the proper research.
Here are the factors Dr. Ali says can help patients everywhere avoid bad plastic surgery at all costs.
How to Choose a Qualified Plastic Surgeon
Plastic Surgeon vs. Cosmetic Surgeon: Any doctor can take a weekend course and call themselves a cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Ali says. With many doctors receiving lower insurance reimbursements than they used to, some are turning to cosmetic surgery to make up costs.
Instead, Dr. Ali advises patients to seek out a plastic surgeon, who can offer both cosmetic and plastic surgery treatments.
A plastic surgeon has not only been through medical school but also several years of plastic surgery training after gaining their MD.
Plastic surgeons must also operate in accredited facilities that follow all local and federal laws related to safety and patient satisfaction.
Certification: When you visit a doctor for a consultation, look at the diplomas decorating the wall, advises Dr. Ali. All those certifications may look impressive, but only qualified plastic surgeons will be board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Another organization of note includes the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Before considering one or more cosmetic or plastic surgery procedures, visit the Board of Medical Specialties that allows you to insert the name of your doctor and location to determine if he or she is, in fact, board-certified.
Recommendations: The best way to find a doctor who offers excellent work is to find a previous and satisfied patient. Your sister-in-law, cousin, or your friend who you recently reconnected with on Facebook, if they mention having work done and you like what you see, find out who their doctor is. Dr. Ali says that you will still want to do your homework on that doctor, but at least a friend, family member or acquaintance can point you in the right direction as far as finding a doctor is concerned.
Ask Plenty of Questions: When you do find a doctor, most will have you set up an appointment for an initial consultation. Dr. Ali suggests that you use this time to ask the doctor about his or her training, qualifications, and patient history.
Ask for Before and Afters: While you’re at it, Dr. Ali says that you should ask to see before and after photos relating to the proposed treatment. The more photos you can look at, the better. Photos can be doctored, however, so don’t solely rely on photo evidence when choosing a cosmetic and/or plastic surgeon.
Dr. Ali has performed thousands of cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures at his Bloomfield Hills plastic surgery center. He says that he likes to see patients come in prepared. It shows they’ve done their homework, and that only a qualified plastic surgeon will do for the procedure(s) they have in mind.
To learn more about plastic surgery from Michigan’s premier plastic surgeon or to schedule a consultation, call Amae Plastic Surgery Center today.

The One Answer to Man Boobs (Gynecomastia) You Should Consider
/0 Comments/in Cosmetic Surgery, Male Breast Reduction /by adminDetroit, MI – Gynecomastia, a condition otherwise known as man boobs, can wreak havoc on a man’s self-esteem.
A man is supposed to be able to take his shirt off without reservation, whether it’s lounging by the pool on a hot day or playing basketball as a member of the “skins team”. Gyno sufferers simply cannot take their shirts off without feeling terrible about themselves.
While man boobs typically only affects men 45 years of age or older, the problem can also be seen in some younger men. Hormonal imbalance during puberty can lead to the appearance of man boobs or moobs as they are sometimes called. The problem can also develop later in life as a result of disease, a metabolic disorder or as a result of the aging process.
The condition causes fatty tissue and/or the development of glandular tissue that is localized in the breast area and is incredibly common. It is said that male breast enlargement can be seen in 60-90% of newborns and 50-60% of boys in puberty. It can also be seen in 70% of men aged 50 or older. Gynecomastia can develop on one side of a man’s chest or both.
By now you’re probably thinking, enough about the facts about man boobs, how do you treat it?
Treatment for Man Boobs
While exercise, proper diet, and some topical treatments can help to reduce the appearance of man boobs or Gynecomastia, there is no guarantee that the problem will go away completely.
If the problem is severe, the only treatment may be gynecomastia surgery.
Gynecomastia Surgery
Following a consultation with Detroit male breast reduction surgeon Dr. Ali, you will undergo either liposuction to remove the breast fat or a mastectomy to remove the breast gland tissue. The surgery is safe and offers very little downtime.
During surgery, you will be given a series of limited incisions to remove the fat and/or breast tissue. The incisions will typically be hidden around the areola so as to reduce the appearance of scarring after your body has healed.
Following surgery, you may experience some soreness and discomfort. Dr. Ali will wrap your chest in bandages that are to remain in place for at least a day, maybe longer. Dr. Ali will then give you instructions on how to heal properly. For example, while your chest is healing, you should limit any heavy activity, especially aerobic activity and weight lifting.
After you have properly rested for about a week, you can then resume your regular activities. You should still refrain from heavy lifting for about three to four weeks. Dr. Ali will give you more feedback about your individual case following your male breast reduction surgical procedure.
Is Male Breast Reduction Surgery an Option for You?
If you suffer from man boobs, you’ll be happy to know that many insurance companies will cover the surgery. Check with your insurance company, then schedule a consultation with Dr. Ali to learn about your options.
Are you ready to say goodbye to man boobs for good? Contact Detroit plastic surgeon Dr. Ali to learn more about gynecomastia surgery, which could help to improve your self-esteem and quality of life.

What Should You Tell Your Boss When Getting Plastic Surgery?
/0 Comments/in Cosmetic Surgery, Oakland County Plastic Surgeon /by adminBloomfield Hills, MI – You’ve decided to engage in the ultimate form of self-improvement by opting for one or more plastic surgery procedures. But now you’re stressing out because you know there may be downtime as your body heals from the procedure, and you have to work.
What are you going to tell your boss? That you’re getting a breast augmentation and need a couple of weeks to heal fully?
The decision to get plastic surgery is an incredibly personal one and you may not want to tell everyone that you’re having your procedures completed, including your boss.
How do you keep your surgery a secret while also getting the required time off work? After all, some procedures may require you to be restricted to your bed or at least homebound for two weeks or more.
Here are some tips that may be able to help you out during this life-changing time.
Be Bold, but Reveal As Much as You’re Comfortable With
You may feel that you are entitled to tell your boss that you are requesting time off for plastic surgery. But the fact is, you don’t have to tell anyone if you don’t want to.
You can tell your boss that you’re having minor surgery. This will also help to explain why you can’t make any sudden movements or put your body under too much strain once you return.
If probed, simply say that it’s personal, and you’d rather not divulge the reason. If you’re having rhinoplasty or a breast augmentation, the results are going to be noticeable when you get back to work, but again, it’s no one’s business but your own.
Get Creative
If you are undergoing rhinoplasty, you could very well tell your boss that you plan to have surgery to repair a deviated septum. Or, if you’re having a tummy tuck you could tell your co-workers that you fixed a hernia.
Obviously, this will be suspicious if you change your appearance too much, but it’s up to you if you plan to tell anyone what really happened.
Find Co-Workers to Take Up Your Slack
It might help you get the necessary time off if you tell your boss that you found one or more colleagues to take up any slack you may leave behind.
This shows your boss that you care about the company and that you’re invested in the business succeeding in your absence. It also puts less stress on your boss, as he or she will know that work will continue, even in your absence.
Can You Work Remotely?
More people are working from home now than ever before. If you have the type of job that you’re able to do your duties from the comfort of your bed or couch, bring this up with your boss.
You may find that your boss is perfectly okay with you working via your computer or laptop from home as you recover from surgery. You may even open the door to work from home more often, even after your recovery is complete.
Check Your Employee Handbook
Some companies allow a person to take time off for medical reasons. Check with your HR department to see how your employer deals with employees undergoing surgery.
Your company cannot ask about why you need the time of or what surgery you’re having. In some cases, you may be able to collect disability and get extended time off, especially if the procedure is medical in nature, such as a tummy tuck to ease chronic back pain and repair a hernia.
Tell the Truth
If all else fails, it might be best just to come clean about why you need the time off. You may find that your boss has considered plastic surgery or has had one or more procedures completed in the past, and thus may have sympathy for your plight.
Use Vacation Time
The ideal scenario is to use the vacation time you’ve accrued to recover from surgery. You won’t have to ask for permission, and no one will be the wiser about your decision to undergo plastic surgery.
For all anyone at work knows, including your boss, you went to Hawaii and came back looking younger and more attractive.
How Much Time Do You Need?
If you work a desk job with minimal movement, you might get by with taking just a few days off work to begin with. You should then refrain from engaging in heavy activity for at least two weeks. Check with your plastic surgeon about your requirements for successfully healing from your recent surgery.
If you work a job like construction where you’re required to exert yourself, you will want to take as much as two weeks off. You may need six weeks to fully recover from surgery before you can get back to work at full capacity. Even then, you might ask for limited duties until your body has fully healed.
Want to learn more about the recovery time required for the plastic surgery procedure you’re considering? Contact Dr. Ali at your earliest convenience.

Your Liposuction Questions Answered
/0 Comments/in Liposuction /by adminBloomfield Hills, MI – Thinking about liposuction, but you want to learn more about it first?
