Dr. Ali Talks About His Key Principles

In addition to being informed about your procedure, you should also ask additional key questions of your surgeon, including:

What are your qualifications, training and prior experience? Are you a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons? Is your degree from a reputable school? Do you have plastic surgery fellowship and residency experience? Are you qualified to handle my procedure, and if so how many have you personally performed?

What is your area of specialty? Do you specialize in in breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction and breast reconstruction? Is my procedure your area of expertise? Dr. Ali offers a complete list of cosmetic surgery procedures he specializes in, so you know about him before you meet him.

What hospital(s) do you operate of out of? Do you operate out of a reputable hospital in case of an emergency?

What are the risks and benefits of the procedure I want you to perform? Do you think I am a good candidate for this procedure, and if not, would you be willing to tell me that you do not recommend that I have the procedure done.

Can I see plastic surgery before and after pictures of your work? Can I view real examples of the changes I can expect to see?

Do you have plastic surgery referrals and the names of other patients who can tell me about their experience with plastic surgery? Can I talk to your prior patients about their personal experience with plastic surgery, and their experience with you and your staff?

Can you describe to me in detail what I can expect from the entire process, from pre-surgery through recovery? Will there be a lot of pain? How long is the recovery and is there someone I can call after if I have any questions?

Do you offer financing? Can I finance a plastic surgery procedure, or do I have to pay in full?

Two procedures in particular were up significantly—face lifts by 14% and liposuction by 7%. Interestingly, the majority of the fastest-growing cosmetic procedures in the Men’s Top 10 were surgical, which is a change from the previous trend of growth in minimally-invasive treatments.

Michigan Plastic Surgery Center Reports Increase in Procedures

Press Release – Bloomfield Hills, MI – March 15, 2011: Amae Plastic Surgery Center in Michigan has seen a significant increase in everything from breast augmentation procedures to facelift surgeries. While Dr. M. Azhar Ali is a much sought-after board certified plastic surgeon in Michigan, he attributes the recent influx to a new attitude toward plastic surgery.

Many plastic surgery procedures have gained popularity because they are minimally invasive; the recovery time is therefore dramatically reduced. But Dr. Ali’s office has also seen an increase in the number of people who just want to take control of their appearance and look and feel the way they’ve always envisioned themselves.

This recent boost in plastic surgeries is a trend corroborated by a new Washington study detailed in the February issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. It reports that patients who have undergone facelift surgery rate themselves as looking an average of 12 years younger after surgery. In addition, almost 90 percent of those surveyed reported receiving a positive reaction from other people; more than 80 percent of patients reported improved self-esteem and 70 percent reported an improved quality of life.

Plastic surgery is no longer just a solution to reverse the aging clock; a wide variety of procedures from liposuction to tummy tucks have become alternatives for people of all ages who want to make a change or correct something about their appearance that has held them back from a more confident life.

With an unparalleled reputation for altruism and for superior patient care, Dr. Ali is a trusted consultation source. For additional information on plastic surgery procedures or to schedule an appointment with Dr. Ali, call 855-335-7200 or visit the website at www.drali.com

Plastic Surgery On The Rise

Plastic surgery is on the rise, and has become as common place as cell phones. If you look around, you can probably tell if someone has had some work done, or you may know someone personally who has has plastic surgery already, or is thinking about it. With all the medical advances in decreased scarring, options in anesthesia, and the affordability, it’s very easy for the average person to look in the mirror and ask “why not?” But does this mean that patients are happy that they had plastic surgery?

Satisfaction On The Rise

According to Sify News a new Washington study in the February issue of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery reports that patients who have undergone facelift surgery rate themselves as looking an average of 12 years younger after surgery. With nearly 90 percent reporting a positive reaction from other people. More than 80 percent of patients reported improved self esteem and 70 percent reported an improved quality of life. That’s an amazingly high percentage when you compare that to people who opt for a less permanent form of improving their self esteem and quality of life.

Plastic surgery is not just for older people trying to recapture a little of their youth back either. It’s for anyone that feels they would look better by changing their nose, increasing their breast size, reshaping their eyes or using liposuction to remove fatty deposit from stubborn areas. Plastic surgery is making it possible for us to look the way we want, and not feel trapped into believing “this is just how it is,” and there is “nothing we can do about it.”

Liquid Facelift

But what if plastic surgery is a larger commitment than you are ready to make right now? Are there other means out there that can provide similar, less drastic results, but results all the same? Yes, especially in the advances of the face, and its natural aging process. Some people are opting for the liquid facelift and wondering why they waited so long.

Ask Around

If you are considering plastic surgery for yourself, the best way to find out about all the details of what to expect is to ask an actual patient who can share their experience with you. Sure, you can read reports and journals, and you should, but asking a patient what they experienced from beginning to end will be more in depth and realistic about your expectations, and will help you determine for yourself if that elective surgery is right for you.

No matter what you choose, there is a procedure that is right for you, just make sure you choose a reputable, board certified plastic surgeon who will make your experience a positive one. In the end , if you are still unsure if people are happy with choosing to have plastic surgery, look around, the fact that plastic surgery procedures are on the rise, is the best indicator that people are happier after surgery than before.

Considering Plastic Surgery? What You Can Do Now

Plastic surgery has come a long way, and it’s popularity has grown in leaps, not steps. What was once something only the rich and famous could afford has become so obtainable, and so affordable, that even teenagers are having procedures done. What should you prepare to ask in your initial consultation in order to make your visit with your plastic surgeon as successful as possible?

Be Informed

Whatever procedure you are considering, research the subject. Don’t go to an initial consultation with your plastic surgeon and expect them to “inform you” for the first time what plastic surgery is. Your initial consultation will be more successful if you understand the basics and are prepared with specific questions. Reading blogs such as this, shows that you are taking steps in the right direction. Learning the benefits and risks before you decide will help your experience with plastic surgery be a positive one. Our 4-part-system explains to you step by step what to expect before you decide.

Be Realistic

Not everyone is a good candidate for plastic surgery, sometimes simply due to unrealistic expectations. Someone who is indecisive is also not a good candidate. The ideal candidate is someone who wants to look and feel healthier. The best way to discover if you are a good candidate for plastic surgery is to discuss your unique situation with a plastic surgeon in your area who will be able to evaluate your goals and help determine whether or not you should proceed.

Ask Questions

There are many questions you should ask yourself before you see a plastic surgeon. A few obvious ones that most people start with are; Do I really want this procedure? Would I be able to live with the results if they were not what I was expecting? Can I afford this?

Of course there are even more questions you need to ask your plastic surgeon. Be open and honest with the doctor and make sure they specialize in the procedure you are considering. Do not be afraid to ask any questions and express any concerns. In order to be prepared, we have provided a thorough list of plastic surgery questions to ask yourself and your doctor.

As with any endeavor, good communication is key to success. Insure that you have a good rapport with the surgeon you are considering for your procedure so that you feel comfortable talking openly and honestly with him or her.

10 Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Predictions for 2011

New York, NY – The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the leading national organization of board-certified plastic surgeons who specialize in cosmetic surgery, offers its predictions for cosmetic surgery in 2011.

Predictions are based on interviews with leading plastic surgeons around the country, who are actively involved in cutting edge surgical and non surgical aesthetic/cosmetic technology.
•As the economy continues to improve, demand for facelifts and other facial rejuvenation surgery will increase. Non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures will also see some growth, but people who have been putting off surgery for the past few years because of the economy will be ready for the gold standard in facial rejuvenation in 2011.
•The growth and popularity of cosmetic injectables (Botox, Dysport, Sculptra, Radiesse, Evolence, Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane etc.) will continue to increase as products continue to evolve and new players enter the market.
•As our population increasingly realizes the dangers and health consequences of obesity, the number of patients seeking plastic surgery procedures for body contouring after dramatic weight loss (abdominoplasty, lower body lift, upper arm lift, etc.) will rise in 2011.
•As the baby boomer generation continues to age, so do their breast implants. This year many baby boomer women who have aging implants and/or breast ptosis will replace their implants and have breast lifts.
•Consumers looking for a bargain on cosmetic procedures will unfortunately lead to an increase in horror stories about “discount injectables” bought offshore and cosmetic medicine and cosmetic surgical procedures performed by untrained or poorly trained practitioners.
•While liposuction (lipoplasty) will continue to be the gold-standard in fat reduction, there will be continued interest in experimental techniques for non-invasive fat removal (freezing, zapping, lasering, etc.) as a future alternative or adjunct to liposuction (lipoplasty) surgery.
•Aesthetic Medicine has seen a dramatic increase in the diversity of the patients treated over the past decade and this trend is expected to continue to grow stronger than ever, with applications that cater to all people. The appeal of both aesthetic surgery and cosmetic medicine will continue to spread across the spectrum of our population, as plastic surgeons further tailor treatments to meet the sometimes unique needs of that expanding population.
•As the popularity of non surgical and minimally invasive procedures continues to grow, surgeons and manufacturers will develop new techniques and products that advance the science, produce even better results and lessen recovery time.
•Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, and Jennifer Lopez have made a shapely rear-end a must have accessory. In the coming year patients will be seeking posterior body lifts, buttock lifts, surgical and nonsurgical buttock augmentations to shape and augment their buttocks.
•Following the trend in increased consumer sophistication patients will increasingly want to know if the latest procedure and device being touted on the internet and TV talk show really works and if it is safe. By incorporating evidence-based medicine into the core specialties of plastic surgery, the Aesthetic Society will make it easier for both doctors and patients to determine fact from fiction.
