How long is the recovery from a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Everybody heals differently. Your ability to heal from any medical procedure can depend upon age, overall health, genetics and how extensive your procedure was.

Brazilian Butt Lift patients generally take anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks off from work to recover. Light aerobic activity and weight training can typically be resumes few weeks after surgery, with your Dr.’s permission. It is typically recommended that strenuous exercise be avoided for about a month to six weeks.

However, movements such as gentle stretching and walking can assist in the healing process and should typically begin the day after your procedure.

What are the possible side effects and complications?

If performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, the Brazilian butt lift procedure has a high success rate. However, as with any cosmetic procedure, it is not without risk.

Common side effects include bruising, swelling, pain, irregular contour, asymmetry, infection, and loss of fat due to not following post-op instructions.

Can a Brazilian butt lift be reversed?

While a Brazilian butt lift is considered a long-term procedure, revisions can be made if you are dissatisfied with your results.  Some of the transferred fat can be easily removed from certain areas simply using liposuction.

In other cases, additional fat can also be added to correct asymmetries or increase size or adjust shape.

Will I have a scar from a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Brazilian Butt Lifts involve extracting fat via liposuction using small tubes that are inserted into the skin. The incision needed for these cannulas are less than a centimeter wide – so you will be left with very tiny scars.

For the first few months after a Brazilian Butt Lift the scars will be red and may possibly be raised and/or firm. Over time the scar will becomes soft, pale, flat, and barely noticeable.

If, however, you are prone to hypertrophic scars or keloids, or these scars run in y our family, you should tell your doctor before your Brazilian Butt Lift.
