Conditions or Concerns Kybella for Double Chin Treats

Kybella is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for permanent fat reduction under the chin. It specifically targets submental fullness (commonly called a double chin), which can result from genetics, aging, or weight changes. Kybella helps create a more defined jawline and balanced profile.

The Procedure Used for Kybella for Double Chin

Kybella contains deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that breaks down and absorbs dietary fat. When injected into submental fat, Kybella destroys fat cells permanently. Once destroyed, the cells can no longer store or accumulate fat.

Does Kybella Hurt – Anesthetic/Numbing Used

We apply topical numbing cream and ice before treatment to maximize comfort. Patients may feel a brief stinging or warmth during injections, but treatment is very well tolerated.

How Long Kybella Takes

Each Kybella session takes about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of injections required.

How Long Recovery from Kybella Takes

Recovery is minimal. Swelling, bruising, or mild tenderness under the chin is common and usually subsides within a week. Most patients return to work and daily activities immediately.

How Long Kybella Lasts

Kybella permanently destroys fat cells. Once the desired contour is achieved, results are permanent. Additional sessions may be needed for optimal results, but retreatment is not typically required once the fat is gone.
