How I Got the Body I Wanted with Liposuction!
Hi there! I’m Lauren C. from Troy, MI, and I am so thrilled with my liposuction with Dr. Ali that he asked me if I would share my experiences.
Like lots of women, after my kids were born, I struggled with stubborn fat around my belly and love handles for years. It just wouldn’t budge, no matter how much I dieted or exercised. Even when I lost weight I still had that belly “pooch.”

My Liposuction Consultation

The Liposuction Procedure
On the day of my procedure, I was a mix of excitement and nerves. You will need someone to drive you and take you home because of the anesthetic. My sister drove me and waited for me (I think she’s going to get lipo with Dr. Ali now, too!) The staff at AMAE Plastic Surgery were incredibly supportive, answering all my last-minute questions and ensuring I felt comfortable. Dr. Ali came to see me before the surgery, reassuring me and going over the procedure one last time.
The liposuction itself was much easier than I had anticipated. I was under twilight anesthesia, so I didn’t feel any pain or discomfort at all during the procedure. In fact, I don’t even remember it happening. It seemed like they gave me the drugs and then next thing knew it was over.
Dr. Ali showed me the fat he removed fat from my abdomen and love handles, and it was a lot! Then he skillfully transferred some of that fat to my breasts for a natural looking enlargement and shaping. One of the most surprising things was the amount of fat Dr. Ali was able to remove – about 11 pounds in total!
Liposuction Recovery
After the procedure, I was surprised by how manageable the recovery process was. Yes, there was some discomfort, but I only needed half a pain pill the first day. And between that and the effects of the anesthetic I was pretty sleepy, so I ate a light dinner and just slept until the next day. My sister stayed with me and my husband took the kids to a movie.
By the second day I only took Tylenol. There was some swelling, but even so I could see that my mid-section was much smaller and my breast were bigger! And the draining from the first day stopped entirely by the end of the third day.
Dr. Ali and his team provided excellent post-operative care, they called to check on me the day after surgery, and then I went in in a week for a follow up.
The results started becoming more and more visible every week. But Dr. Ali had prepared me for the fact that it would take some time for the swelling to fully subside and for my final results to emerge. He was right – patience really is key in this process.
As the weeks went by, I was amazed at the changes I saw. My abdomen was flatter than it had been in years, and my love handles had virtually disappeared. I went from size 14 pants to comfortably wearing a size 8! And my newly enhanced breasts looked so natural and even – it was as if I had always had them.

It’s now been a year after my procedure, and I can truly say that liposuction has transformed my life. I planned well in advance, so all the swelling had subsided revealing my final results, by the reunion. I used to hate clothes shopping, but I actually had fun trying on dresses for my Class Reunion! I’m thrilled with what I see in the mirror and my husband said I had the best figure of all the alumni at the Troy High School Reunion.
As for scarring, the tiny scars from the procedure are almost invisible now – you’d have to know where to look to find them. It’s really amazing how much of a difference it made in my overall appearance and how I feel in my clothes.
But it’s not just about the physical changes. The boost in my self-confidence has been incredible. I feel more comfortable in my own skin, more outgoing, and more willing to try new things. Putting on a bathing suit is actually fun now, instead of a dreaded chore.
