Conditions or Concerns CoolSculpting Treats
CoolSculpting reduces stubborn fat pockets that resist diet and exercise. abdominal (belly) fat, love handles and muffin tops (flanks), inner and outer thighs, arms, back fat, bra rolls, banana rolls under the buttocks, and fat around the knees – as well as “double chin” (submental) fat.
Who Is a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting is ideal for men and women who are close to their healthy body weight but struggle with stubborn fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise. Patients with unwanted fat pockets in the abdomen, flanks, thighs, upper arms, chin, buttocks, chin and back can “spot reduce” problem areas of stubborn fat. Good candidates should have pinchable fat (subcutaneous fat just under the skin). CoolSculpting does not treat deep visceral fat located around the organs.
CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment but a body contouring solution for localized fat. Patients should be in relatively good general health, maintain a stable weight, and have realistic expectations — understanding that results develop gradually as the body naturally eliminates the destroyed fat cells over time.
Who Is Not a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting is not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for healthy lifestyle choices. Patients who are seeking significant overall weight loss, or who have large amounts of visceral fat (fat stored deep within the abdomen around internal organs), are not good candidates. In addition, individuals with certain rare medical conditions that make them highly sensitive to cold — such as cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria — should not undergo CoolSculpting.
Patients with unrealistic expectations, such as hoping for dramatic weight loss or skin tightening, may also not be well suited. For these individuals, Dr. Ali will discuss alternative treatments, including surgical procedures like liposuction or tummy tuck surgery, which may provide more effective results.
The Procedure or Technique(s) Used for CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting uses controlled cooling (cryolipolysis) to freeze and permanently destroy fat cells beneath the skin. The body then naturally eliminates the dead fat cells over time, resulting in a slimmer, more sculpted appearance without surgery or downtime.
Does CoolSculpting Hurt
CoolSculpting is generally well tolerated. Patients may feel intense cold, tingling, or pulling during the first few minutes, but the area becomes numb quickly. No anesthesia is required.
How Long CoolSculpting Takes
Each CoolSculpting treatment cycle takes 35 to 60 minutes, depending on the applicator and area treated.
How Long Recovery from CoolSculpting Takes
There is no downtime after CoolSculpting. Patients may experience temporary redness, swelling, or numbness in treated areas, but normal activities can be resumed immediately.
How Long CoolSculpting Lasts
Results from CoolSculpting are considered permanent – because once fat cells are destroyed, they cannot regenerate. However, remaining fat cells can enlarge with weight gain, so maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important.
Combining CoolSculpting with Skin Tightening Treatments
While CoolSculpting effectively eliminates stubborn fat cells, it does not tighten loose or sagging skin. For patients who also experience skin laxity in treated areas, combining CoolSculpting with advanced skin tightening procedures can deliver even more comprehensive results. Treatments such as ThermiSmooth, which uses gentle radiofrequency energy, or Profound Skin Tightening, which combines microneedling with radiofrequency, stimulate collagen and elastin production to firm and smooth the skin. When performed in conjunction with CoolSculpting, these therapies help contour the body by both reducing unwanted fat and improving skin tone and elasticity, leading to a slimmer, firmer, and more youthful appearance.
Cost of CoolSculpting
Each patient’s CoolSculpting needs are unique – depending on the number of areas treated, the size of the area, and the number of cycles required. Therefore, the cost of CoolSculpting will vary. During consultation, we will recommend the best plan for your needs and provide the cost.
