The Condition(s) Neck Lift Surgery Treats
Neck lift surgery (platysmaplasty or cervicoplasty) improves the appearance of sagging skin, muscle banding, and excess fat in the neck. Neck lift surgery creates a smoother, more defined neckline and reduces signs of aging.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Neck Lift Surgery
A sagging “banded” or aging neck (sometimes called “turkey neck”) is one of the most visible signs of aging – and yet one of the most difficult to treat. This is because it involves the thinner more delicate skin on the neck as well as the muscles beneath the skin – which obviously cannot be treated with creams or serums.
Candidates for neck lift surgery are healthy adults who would like to remedy visible aging, sagging or drooping skin, jowls, “rings,” visible muscle bands, or contour irregularities in their neck – for a significantly more youthful appearance.
Younger men and women are also seeing more rapid aging, sagging and wrinkling in the neck due to constant looking down at phones and devices – a condition called “tech neck.” For extreme cases of “tech neck” that have not responded to less invasive skin tightening treatments – such as Profound RF skin tightening – a neck lift may be a suitable option.
Neck Lift Procedure or Technique(s) Used by Dr. Ali
Dr. Ali evaluates each patient’s skin quality, fat distribution, and muscle tone to determine the best approach for neck rejuvenation.
Neck lift surgery may involve platysmaplasty (tightening of neck muscles), cervicoplasty (removal of loose skin), and liposuction (removal of fat deposits). Multiple techniques are often combined for the most comprehensive improvement. Dr. Ali’s medical expertise and surgical artistry ensures a youthful, natural-looking and refined neckline.
Neck lift surgery is very often combined with facelift surgery for complete rejuvenation and ant-aging results.
Does Neck Lift Surgery Hurt – Anesthetic Used for Neck Lift Surgery
Neck lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia (the patient is “asleep”) – or in more minimal cases under sedation with local anesthesia. Patients are always kept comfortable during surgery and recovery. After neck lift surgery, discomfort is controlled with prescribed medication, for as long as needed, followed by over-the-counter pain relievers as needed.
How Long Neck Lift Surgery Takes
Neck lift surgery takes 2 to 3 hours, depending on the complexity and whether combined with facelift surgery.
How Long Recovery from Neck Lift Surgery Takes
After neck lift surgery, patients return to light activities in 1 to 2 weeks. Driving is safe once prescription medications are no longer needed and the patient can comfortable turn their head fully. Gentle walking is encouraged early, while strenuous activity is delayed 4 to 6 weeks. Final results continue to improve over the next several weeks and full results appear as swelling subsides over several months.
Will There Be Scarring After Neck Lift Surgery
Incisions are hidden under the chin and around the ears. Dr. Ali uses the smallest incisions possible and strategically places incisions to keep scars as inconspicuous as possible. Scars fade significantly over time with proper care.
How Long Does a Neck Lift Last
Neck lift results are “permanent” – however nothing stops the natural aging process. Most patients find that one neck lift in their lifetime is enough to keep them looking youthful and refreshed as they continue to get older. However, proper skin care – maintaining a healthy diet, preventing weight fluctuations, and avoiding sun exposure and smoking – will all contribute to the longevity of your neck lift results.
Cost of Neck Lift Surgery
Each patient’s neck lift surgery needs are unique – depending upon the technique used and anatomy. And in many cases a neck lift is combined with other procedures. Therefore, the cost of neck lift surgery will vary. During your consultation, Dr. Ali will recommend the best neck lift surgery plan for your unique needs and provide exact cost. Financing options are available.
